immigrant HW

My image of an immigrant is a person who has come from another faraway country to make a permanent residence in the United States. Some of these people have faced hardship and adversity in their journey here to make a better life for themselves.

I think that there are a multitude of reasons for people to immigrate to America, especially since we have a lot of freedom here. If people come here from a poor country, than can get a higher paying job and have a higher quality lifestyle than other places. Also, if people come to the United States from a nation that supresses their religious beliefs, then can come to America to escape persecution. If they were unhappy with their home country's government, they might also leave.
The culture of the United States of America is greatly influenced by immigration, from our foods to our laws and languages. Especially living in an area so close to an international border, our language diversity is greatly affected because some people do not speak English. The food of our country has also been greatly diversified by immigration. We have Chinese resturaunts, Mexican food, and almost any other international food we could ever desire.
I think that my life has not really been affected by immigration, but it still an important thing to learn about. I hear a lot about illegal immigration on the news, and in a whole different perspective, I love eating all the international foods given to us by immigrants.
