Oh joy! Oh joy! Jack has finally run away! After a long struggle with Ralph for respect and power, Jack actually gave up today! He ran crying off into the woods like a littlun! He blew the conch for a meeting, intending on overthrowing Ralph, and he had the nerve to do so for once. He asked for a new vote, who would like him for chief and nobody raised their hand in agreement. Oh the utter defeat of a prefect without respect! Ralph’s calm demure has helped him keep his position, no doubt! Oh I am so excited! No more jack to tease me and belittle me! No more “fatty” and no more teasing! Jack treated me as a human taboo and I am so happy he is gone.  That demoniac boy is no longer around to harass me! I hope he has fun hunting pigs in those woods without us! Later though, after the meeting, I noticed that some of the bigger boys were disappearing. I hope not to go join that Jack! Ralph and I talked it over, and we decided, that because the beastie lives up on the mountain, we would move the fire down towards the beach near our camp. I am sort of worried that Jack and his little tribe will try to steal my specs though. I mean that or steal a burning branch to make fire for his tribe. I wonder if Simon is alright out in the woods by himself. I had the strangest nightmare last night too! I dreamed that I was Simon, and I was talking to a pig head! It was bloody scary I tell you! Anyways, Ralph is calling us for a meeting now, I hope not too many others go away with Jack, the last thing we need is a war……
