Castle Rock
Oh, the View from Above
Perspective: Simon
I forget everything. I forget what happened last night. I remember seeing hearing that voice, turning my head, and then black. Am I asleep? I wonder what is going on. I am having the strangest visions… let me try to explain. I have been watching the island as if I was flying above it. I saw Ralph this morning, blowing the conch and calling everyone left in his tribe to a meeting. Not many showed up though. Poor Ralph, I can’t imagine what it must feel like being abandoned like this. I saw Piggy standing there without his specs, and I was curious where they had gone. The cessation of activity I saw at the castle rock made me suspect that Jack had stolen them. Jack and his tribe of savages. Those fools, don’t they realize that they’d be off this island by now if they had just listened to Ralph and kept the fire lit? There are more important things in this world besides meat. Speaking of fire, Jack and his band of thieves have been stealing it from Ralph’s tribe! I hope Ralph gets them good in the pills for that! Anyway, Ralph and his group started making his way down to the castle rock earlier, I hope they realize that that’s exactly what Jack wants them to do. He has a trap ready for them, oh I hope nobody gets hurt. Piggy was carrying the conch like a sacred talisman, as they walked towards castle rock. Jack glared trucently at Ralph and his party, and Ralph stared back. They had abandoned the specless Piggy at this point, so he clutched a rock and yelled in a delirious abandonment, “Protect me Ralph!” Then suddenly and without warning, Rodger looked up at Piggy in a savage manner. Then, in a flash, ran over to a large wooden stick, and thrust it down as hard as he could. The rocks above Piggy began to shake, and with a great rumble, the rocks tumbled seaward. A brilliant sound, like smashing glass echoed, as the conch shattered into a million bright pieces, as Piggy disappeared beneath the rocks and waves….
